Homework for week of 11/4

Monday: Choose poem (one of four we discussed in class) for poetry analysis. Write a thesis based on this question:
Write a well-developed essay in which you analyze how the poet conveys the complex relationship of the father and the child through the use of literary devices. (Choose two or three, maximum).

Consider both the BIG idea and the literary devices used (the HOW and WHY) to convey that idea.
This paper is two pages, double-spaced in MLA format. Due Friday.

Tuesday: Work on poetry analysis! See me before Friday if you have questions or concerns.
Block day: Work on poetry analysis. Due Friday. 
In addition, read and annotate Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron". Also, due on Friday. Think about what tone is conveyed through the language. What is Vonnegut trying to tell us?
Friday: Begin Cat's Cradle. Read and annotate chs 1-10. (Note: Don't panic. This is only 23 pages.) Note Vonnegut's new vocabulary. Write it down. Note the places which surprised, delighted or confused you. Here are some other notes from earlier that you might want to guide your annotations:
